Other Worlds: From Orbital to The Wilderness Within

Samantha Harvey's winning of the 2024 Booker Prize for her IInternational Space Station-set novel Orbital confirmed what those who had followed her writing since 2009 debut The Wilderness already knew: Here is one of the most exploratory and ambitious novelists currently at work. Whether imagining the onset of Alzheimer's from inside, reworking Socrates for contemporary moral choices, making an epistolary enquiry deep into the heart, or tracking her own experience of severe insomnia, her dispatches deliver world-making that is both affecting and compelling. She is in conversation with her long-time publisher, friend and FlipSide Trustee, Dan Franklin.
