Weave your own story using a mix of traditional South American tales and creating new 'how' and 'why' stories, to explain other creatures in the rainforest - or imaginary yet to be discovered creatures!

Justine de Mierre

Justine de Mierre is a Storyteller, a skill which she also uses as a Theatre Maker, Consultant and Singer-Songwriter. She has a BA in Psychology from Cambridge and graduated in acting from Drama Studio London.

After 5 years performing in community and touring theatre she set up Ladder to the Moon, an innovative interactive theatre company in South London. With Ladder she created, directed and performed work in shopping centres, on the streets and ground breaking character residencies in working hospital wards and elderly care units.

In 2010 she completed a project training librarians in multi-sensory storytelling for children with special needs for Bag Books, and has worked with a variety of groups of children with learning difficulties using both storytelling and theatre.

From 2008 to 2012, she devised book-themed ‘Storyplaytime’ sessions for the under 5s for Puffin Books, to celebrate the anniversaries of several classic picture books including The Moomins, Peepo!, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar – all of which have been sell-out sessions at book festivals across the country.

In 2015 she founded and became Chair of The East Anglian Fabulation - a collective of East Anglian Storytellers and was founder and organiser of The East Anglian Storytelling Festival 2015 and 2016 - which she instigated in order to put her passion for making storytelling relevant and exciting for new audiences into action.

Her multi-faceted storytelling practice So… what’s the story? ranges from the Storyplaytime and Adventure Tots sessions she creates for under 5s, to adults-only pub story nights and the rock ‘n’ roll and storytelling duo Darklove, to her Business Narrative consultancy work. She tells regularly at pubs, festivals, schools, libraries and parties and runs the Tapas and Tales Storytelling Night at the King’s Head, Woodbridge.
