On 17th September Mexican Storyteller, Mike Payton enthralled Year 5 at Springfield with tales from Mexico and introduced 'Día de Muertos' - Day of the Dead. Over the following weeks the children made skull masks and wrote Calaveras (poems written to celebrate the life of someone who has passed), these were on display at the 2015 FlipSide Festival and the children read some of them on the festival's outside stage.
Through charitable support we provided a coach for the children and families of Year 5 to attend the festival on Saturday 3rd October and provided them with wristbands so they could access the activities and events free of charge.
