As part of our audience development work Brazilian author/illustrator Fabio Sombra visited Yoxford Primary School and Queens House School, Woodbridge to talk to the children about Brazil as well as his own writing and art. The children learnt about the Pantanal region of Brazil and its exotic flora and fauna. In response to the visit they wrote their own stories and created their own books, with illustrations based on Fabio's woodcuts. Fabio gave each child a hand stitched cordel featuring his story The Jaguar's Revenge.
'My two sons go to Yoxford school, and Fabio Sombra went to see them, and they had the most fantastic experience with him. They never ever say anything about school, ever. And they came back from school on Tuesday and they didn’t stop talking about his stories, his printing, his illustration, they just got so much out of it, it's fantastic.' - Parent
