Candy and Carne - how Carnivalesque!

We are delighted that there will be a range of mouthwatering Brazilian snacks, meals and drinks available at FlipSide to both satisfy and whet those appetites for culture, both gastronomic and literary. Food for thought?

Whether it’s vegetarian or meat-filled feijoada (traditional stew), juicy, grilled (and carnivorous) churrasco, delectable Pasteis de Nata custard tarts or much loved bonbons, brigadeiros, not to mention Aquim’s rich and toothsome chocolates, they can be washed down with fabulous coffee, the fruits of the vineyard as imported by Go Brazil Wines or indeed the national signature cocktail, a caipirinha or two.

But what goes into a Caipirnha - Liz has the answer (it's a shame that publishing career worked out she could've been the next Nigella!!):

CAIPIRINHA FLIPSIDE

IN A SMALL THICK-BOTTOMED WATER GLASS, FRENCH BISTRO TYPE IS BEST, PLACE ONE LIME, QUARTERED THEN EIGHTHED. (PERFECTIONISTS REMOVE THE WHITE CENTRAL CORE.)

MASH THE LIMES WITH A THICK WOODEN MASHER (BLUNT END OF THICK WOODEN SPOON WILL DO)

ADD A HEAPED (OR TO TASTE) TEASPOON OF (CANE) CASTER SUGAR

MUDDLE TOGETHER FOR A FEW MINUTES.

ADD CACHACA TO NEARLY FILL THE GLASS AND THEN ADD LOTS OF SMALL ICE CUBES.

STIR OR SHAKE

DRINK SLOWLY

HAVE ANOTHER

THAT'S ENOUGH!
