From King’s College, London, the King’s Brazil ensemble will perform this humorous and ironic operetta by Noel Rosa, described as ‘typically Carioca – typically Rio de Janeiro’. With a libretto translated by Prof. David Treece and conducted by Dr Vinicius Mariano de Carvalho.

The King's Brazil Institute is part of a cluster of Global Institutes at King's College London, founded to lead the College's strategy of international engagement and committed to advancing knowledge in the service to society, and dedicated to furthering the College's international profile through scholarship, research and policy solutions of relevance to the world's most dynamic and complex regions. The activities of the Brazil Institute, like that of the other Global Institutes, link across the range of academic, professional, and other services at King's, to develop relationships with international partners and so further King's commitment to developing research that speaks directly to global questions and needs. With a primary focus on the BRIC economies, we are developing an agenda to generate comparative understanding of key regions and state actors in 21st century global politics.
